THE AFRICAN UNION HEADQUARTERS & CHINA
The pictures below depict the beautiful scenery of the AFRICAN UNION HEADQUARTERS. Truth be told they beautify the skylines of the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Yet every time I think of this body of African leaders all I feel is a very palpable feeling of SHAME and DISGUST.
SHAME at the fact that at every turn those who have led us since the retreat of the Europeans from our shore as direct colonial masters our leaders have not missed an opportunity to make all Africans look like perennial beggars. I have still never gotten over the reality that 54 INDEPENDENT AFRICAN States had to beg for a building from the Chinese as a gift to serve as their headquarters.
The African Union Conference Center and Office Complex (AUCC) is the headquarters of the African Union and plays host to the biannual AU Summits. It was fully funded and built by the Chinese government at the cost of US $200 million and given as a "gift".
DIGUST because in life there are NO FREE GIFTS. Every single "gift" impels an obligation. Even the mere expression of gratitude is obligatory. And in the cut throat business of international diplomacy subservience is expected in return for acts of "generosity". The entire African continent, country by country, is littered with innumerable scars of such generosities over the last centuries. Yet those who pass for African leaders, each can individually embezzle billions of dollars and yet collectively submit all of Africa to the fate of begging even for a single building.
I bet there is not a toilet in there that the Chinese contractors did not bug. And so even the private parts of the diplomats who meet there day in and day out are on pictures in Beijing. Imagine those who frolic in their offices to pass time just how much videos of their mischiefs will be on TicTok. Or besides their spouses be shown for all the world to shame them.
And you wonder why Africa is being turned over to China. The blackmail started in small cubicles in Addis Ababa.
It means absolutely NOTHING to be wealthy when you do not even know that you are wealthy.
The shaming of Africans. The killings of Black people around the world in conditions worst than even the disposal of stray dogs is rooted deep in the recklessness with which even African leaders treat other Africans.
