-Locko dropped (Je serai la) -Franko dropped (on s’assoit pas) -Mr Leo dropped (partout).
As usual, Locko is on his loving spree painting his perfect love stories like heartbreak and deceit do not exist in his world. Getting “Thank You Lord” from him in April this year was a bit of a relief to those of us who are tired of hearing his love affairs with every piece of music he releases. It’s disheartening at times to think of how much the money part of showbiz has limited the experiences we get with different types/subjects in music.
Sonically in the ‘pon pon’ range of instrumentals, Locko however does justice to the beat with some amazing melody which is his area of expertise. The dynamic nature of his singing makes up for the pon poness of the instrumental. Compared to past releases, Locko’s trajectory seems to be on the rise making him, easily, one of the top 5 urban artist in Cameroon at the moment. He got a win here.
Mr Leo is finally enjoying the fruits of years of hard work and I am sure he is feeling how much change has happened around him. With his songs getting played all over the world, he felt it was time for him to acknowledge his new position by singing a song particularly dedicated to his fans. With a video that is somewhat disappointing in terms of image quality, it might be safe to ask what is going on with the Doctor that he has resorted to be serving us with fast food.

What we love the most about Mr Leo is his story telling ability. Unlike Locko, Mr Leo is like most of us who live normal lives and have things to talk about other than women. Mr Leo is definitely the type of artist we at Poise appreciate more. We have seen both Mr Leo and Salatiel go real hard in the past but we have to say sonically, this was a little bit lazy and that might only be because of what we have come to expect. The message seemed to be more important to Mr Leo than anything else here so we would not be overly critical of everything else. We call it an even.
As for Franko, he continues to prove that “Coller la petite” backed him into a very tight angle that he almost got out from with ‘Taper sur madame’ but gave up on trying. From the moment when Franko Released a second video for “Coller la Petite” in the prime of his buzz, one could tell that he was not ready for the success. If you read our message to Tenor and our article on bullying in the music industry, you will see many of the things we warned against that Franko has been doing over and over again. This song is no doubt a loss.
You do not gain respect as an artist by trying to dumb down. Franko is trying to read too much into the minds of the average Cameroonian, trying to find the little things they say and use that in his music hoping they connect. The problem is people are not interesting in you telling them the things they say. They want you to say things they say but in ways they never thought of saying. Franko is in a hole and he is digging it even deeper. He needs to take some lessons from Tenor. We can all see tenor in that video did not look very comfortable with what he was hearing. #lessons
