Francis Kere is a Burkinabe whose design studio, KERE Architecture, creates afro-futuristic contemporary architecture. His approach to design and construction carries an unequivocal African heritage – local, traditional, community-centric, and sustainable. He employs indigenous architectural knowledge in his construction to produce structures that are not only remarkable but also functional.
He is renowned for using local materials and local contraction techniques which he achieves by working with local consultants and craftspeople.
