Furniture Business:

Find a piece of furniture that you can make for less than 30,000 FCFA and that is also easy to package and ship. I can think of a mirror that could be perfect for use in a bedroom. If I go on Pinterest and type  “bedroom mirror ideas,” I will find many fascinating and functional designs. A simple coffee table also comes to mind.  Next, I will find a carpenter who can make that mirror for me. I would go for an easy design and find a carpenter who will do an excellent finish.

When your piece of furniture is done, take beautiful pictures with your phone and share the pictures on your WhatsApp status and social media pages.

Fashion Brand:

Many fashion brands start with just a t-shirt. Buy  10 t-shirts, and think of something you can write on them that will resonate with others. It could be a motivational message or any other thing that has significance, something others can easily identify. It could be a T-shirt celebrating your hometown or alma mater. Find someone who can print your design or message on the t-shirts. You can go for screen printing or DTF printing depending on the kind of design you have. When you finish, take beautiful pictures and share them on social media.

A Bookstore:

Think of some books that many people will find useful. I can immediately think of things like The Cameroonian High Way Code and The Cameroonian Penal Code. Find a place where you can buy these books. You can find them being sold for about 1000 or 2000F. Buy a few copies, and sell them online for a higher price. You can expand to other popular books. If you read these books and write reviews, that can also be great content to promote your business.

An electronics business:

Many people are always in search of good earphones. If you are someone versed in technology and sound, you can identify good quality headphones. Buy a few and sell for a higher price. You can sell on your WhatsApp status or carry a few with you at all times as you carry out your normal daily activities. You can start with headphones and expand to include other things eventually.

A Fashion Accessories Business:

If you are the type that always gets asked, “Where did you buy that from?”  this one is for you. It may be sunglasses, jewelry, brooches, or watches. If you have good taste, you can turn that into a side hustle. Make a good selection of fashion accessories, take nice pictures, and start posting on your social media pages.

For all these, you will need to get some digital marketing skills. Learn how to use applications like Canva to create great content. Learn how to add extra value in customer service, packaging, or anything you can think of.
