Reniss's Doudou is the most disappointing release since Paul Biya's laptops arrived.
After the satisfaction of the Artwork I saw of Reniss's EP, I knew she was taking us for a high ride but when I listened to Doudou, my only thought: Not a very good way to come back after Dan la Sauce.
Too much inconsistency with her sound... Just too much inconsistency.
Since Dan La Sauce, the closest thing to a hit Reniss did was Pilong. Unfortunately, that song did not have the attention it deserved.
Serious AnR flaws.
And Dodou... Reminds me of Jovi in 2010; not a very good thing. Music has evolved. Melodies are less 2 dimensional. They're more organic. Drum patterns are less static. And more roomy...
Dodou is not the song you have on your phone when you're taking a stroll. It's not that song you have for your ring tone.
I really was hoping Reniss would drop another master piece like Dans la Sauce; a cultural anthem. Sadly, her career has been one big experiment thus far, with multiple musical genres tested on her microphone.
Dodou is not a good way to come back, darling Reniss. I'm sure your Doudou is listening to Promet Moi, or Juste a la Garre, or maybe Blanche Bailey is driving him Dinguo. Let that ring a bell. There is nothing new about your music, dear Reniss.
With love, a die hard fan.
