Let's face it; award shows have since become tantamount to a political party meeting but we still watch and hope our favorite artists who earn a nomination can come home with a trophy. Why in the world is Maitre Gims getting nominated, not to talk of Syssi Mananga who I've known nothing about until today. My research shows she's one of those artists that earn more from affiliations than her music.
In the past I've always considered with disdain, ceremonies to celebrate Africans that take place out of Africa. The irony still remains unresolved but I have come to accept that people will do things like that for many reasons that may not make sense to me. I have also come to accept that there is a huge population of Africans in the diaspora, not necessarily by choice, and they need award shows to go to when Americans go to the MTV, BET, and million other award shows - you know a ego thing.
Any-ha!
Whether or not award shows to celebrate Africans should be hosted out of Africa is for another day. For now let's focus on the most important thing right now which is bringing some trophies to the 237.
It's been a long journey but we are finally getting seats on the table. In this years Afrimma awards we have 5 trophies to bag and I’m feeling positive about 4 of them.
We have:-
Best Francophone - Daphne
With the likes of Hiro, Toofan, and Maitre Gims also in the category, it will be a tough one for Daphne but if votes do count, I'm sure with the success of Calée we can have her bring it home.
Best African Dancer - Brenda Derry
I don't know any of the other 9 dancers nominated but having watched some of Brenda's dance videos, I'm still to be convinced she is even one of the top 100 dancers in Cameroon so I won't be putting any money on this one
Best video Director -Shamak
We don't see Shamak often but he just reminded us of who he is with Ngoma's Mangosi video. Shamak's image quality is one of the best I have seen in Africa. Even better than Clarence if you ask me. I'm sure they've figured that out and they're now nominating him so as to get him in the room, give him some champagne, and have him throw up the secret.
Best New Comer - Mr Leo
We all know this guy deserves to bag the category but I think our votes will count the most here because it is tight. Please invoke your voting spirit immediately.
Best Female Central Africa - Reniss & Syssi Mananga
Tell me who else you know. Reniss has worked so hard and proven she is one of the best around here.
Best Male Central Africa - Magasco & Stanley Enow
If you had to pick between one of these two, will that be a hard decision to make?
P.S I still don't know why all of a Sudden, Maitre Gims is everywhere on this list. He been popping since Afrimma started. So why now. Politics. I'm sure he's performing for the ratings.
They say the truth destroys a good story so you can expect unexpected winners because that makes for a good story.
Link to vote will be in the Comments Section.
